Sub-surface screen printing on the underside of transparent plastics is an ideal method of producing faceplates, dials, and scales. The ink is impervious to abrasion. An added benefit is the ability to incorporate backlit, dead front, LensLite®, LED/LCD display windows and/or flexible keypad areas in the panel's graphic design. Rim or pillow embossing is a popular option for keypad overlays. The plastics range in thickness from .005" to .030" and include PVC (vinyl), polycarbonate, and polyester. The material can be hard coated for extra protection against surface scratching and may also be selectively surface textured with gloss, matte, anti-glare or velvet finishes.
